United Kingdom: Vows to make Musk's Grok-generated "nude" images illegal.
Currently, the UK government is seeking to crack down on a large amount of sexually suggestive content generated by artificial intelligence bots on the social media platform X. Technology Minister Liz Kendall stated in the House of Commons that the government will start enforcing the offense of making non-consensual intimate images as outlined in last year's Data Act. She also mentioned that this behavior will be classified as a "priority offense" under the Online Safety Bill, meaning that "individuals who create or attempt to create such content will be committing a criminal offense." Additionally, she outlined plans to make "deepfake" apps illegal. Prior to Kendall's speech, the UK Communications Authority announced that they are formally investigating whether Elon Musk's X platform is violating UK laws. This could potentially result in fines or restrictions on the platform's services.
