The Taiwan Affairs Office responds to the Mainland Affairs Council's threat to Taiwanese people.
On the morning of November 19th, the Taiwan Affairs Office held a routine press conference. A reporter asked: "The public security authorities recently issued a reward notice, seeking information on illegal activities by Taiwanese internet celebrities Wen Ziyu and Chen Baiyuan. The Taiwan Mainland Affairs Office stated that the mainland's intention to disrupt the hearts and minds of the Taiwanese people. If Taiwanese people cooperate with the mainland's rewards to provide relevant information, they will be dealt with according to law. What is your comment on this?"
Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian of the Taiwan Affairs Office responded: "Many Taiwanese people disdain the threats from the Taiwan Mainland Affairs Office and make a clear distinction with people like Shen Boyang, Wen Ziyu, and Chen Baiyuan in various ways. The public security authorities issued the notice to reward and collect information on the illegal activities of the two individuals, as a specific action to legally punish crimes of splitting the country and inciting such activities, and as a just response to the calls from both sides of the strait to curb 'independence'. We hope that compatriots on both sides of the strait will actively provide relevant information on illegal activities through relevant channels, and the relevant authorities will strictly protect the information and legitimate rights of the informants according to law."
