According to the calculation based on the fattening period of piglets, the piglets currently being replenished will miss the peak consumption season of the Spring Festival, facing the risk of weakening prices after the festival, which has struck a blow to the confidence of farmers in replenishing their stocks. In addition, with the expansion of production capacity on the supply side and the increase in PSY, the market faces great supply pressure. The soft replenishment and sufficient supply have formed a double squeeze, exacerbating the downward pressure on piglet prices. According to monitoring of 500 county markets and collection points across the country, the average price of piglets in the fourth week of September was 29.07 yuan per kilogram, a decrease of 3.2% from the previous week and a 26.2% decrease from the same period last year, reaching a 19-month low. Prices of piglets in all 29 monitored provinces in the country have fallen. Prices in the South China region are higher at 31.61 yuan per kilogram, while prices in the North China region are lower at 27.93 yuan per kilogram.
