Starting today, South Korea will implement a visa-free policy for group tourists from China. For a long time, China has been considered a golden route by the South Korean aviation industry, prompting airlines to offer special discounts on tickets to major cities such as Shanghai and Zhengzhou. Many South Korean duty-free shops have been refurbished, with major duty-free shops and department stores offering multilingual introductions, translation services, and AI translation booths. Well-known beauty chains have also added Chinese services. South Korea's largest food delivery platform has launched Alipay and WeChat payment options. The Bank of Korea predicts that for every additional 1 million Chinese group tourists, South Korea's GDP will increase by 0.08 percentage points. The industry believes that the initial implementation of the visa-free policy will not significantly increase the number of Chinese tourists visiting South Korea, but it is expected that by the end of the year, the number of tourists will increase significantly, causing a ripple effect across the entire retail, food and beverage, and accommodation industries in South Korea. A survey shows that for every additional 1 million Chinese tourists, South Korea's tourism revenue will increase by 2.56 trillion Korean won, approximately 129 billion RMB.
