The Chang'e-6 mission team was awarded the 2025 International Astronautical Federation World Space Award for Group Achievement.
On September 29th, local time, the 76th International Astronautical Congress opened in Sydney. During the opening ceremony, the Chinese Chang'e 6 mission team was awarded the 2025 World Space Award Group Award by the International Astronautical Federation, which is considered one of the highest honors in the space industry. On May 3, 2024, the Chang'e 6 probe was launched into space from the Wenchang Space Launch Center in China by the Long March 5B rocket. On June 25, the Chang'e 6 return capsule successfully returned to Earth carrying 1935.3 grams of samples from the moon's far side, completing the first-ever human mission to collect samples from the moon's far side. The World Space Award is the highest honor in the space industry established by the International Astronautical Federation, aiming to recognize individuals or teams who have made significant contributions in the fields of global space science, technology, engineering, and management.
