The stable growth plan for the non-ferrous metal industry has been released. The new round of breakthrough strategies for mineral exploration will be implemented.
Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Commerce, and 8 other departments jointly issued the "Work Plan for Stabilizing Growth in the Nonferrous Metal Industry." It directly addresses the core issues of insufficient resource security, lack of high-end supply, and untapped effective demand in the industry, and introduces 10 measures from the dimensions of optimizing supply, increasing reserves, and promoting applications. The plan proposes that from 2025 to 2026, the value added of the nonferrous metal industry will grow at an average annual rate of about 5%, economic benefits will continue to improve, the production of ten nonferrous metals will grow at an average annual rate of about 1.5%, domestic resource development of copper, aluminum, lithium, and other metals will make positive progress, the production of recycled metals will exceed 20 million tons, the supply capacity of high-end products will continue to strengthen, and the level of green, low-carbon, and digital development will continue to increase. The plan prioritizes increasing the level of resource security and proposes implementing a new round of strategic breakthrough in mineral exploration, strengthening resource survey and exploration for copper, aluminum, lithium, nickel, cobalt, tin, etc., and scientifically and orderly releasing mining rights. It also supports the research and development of green and efficient mining and metallurgical technology and equipment for low-grade, associated, and refractory resources.
