On September 26th, it was learned from the National Information Optoelectronic Innovation Center located in Wuhan that in the middle of this month, the center released the first set of nationalized 12-inch silicon photonics full-process suite. Within half a month, more than 40 companies, universities, and institutions nationwide have come to the center to communicate and cooperate, with more than 10 entering substantive cooperation stages. Traditional chips rely on electronic transmission of data, like cars carrying goods. Silicon photonics chips allow photons to travel through optical fibers, transforming into "light-speed high-speed rail". In recent years, with the maturity of technology, silicon photonics chips are opening up large-scale applications in cutting-edge industries such as artificial intelligence and big data. Market research data shows that by 2025, the global silicon photonics chip market size will rapidly exceed $8 billion.
