Boeing has agreed to pay $50,000 to settle a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of John Barnett. Barnett was a whistleblower who died by suicide last year. Barnett was a former employee of Boeing and passed away in March 2024. At the time, he was providing testimony in a lawsuit alleging retaliation for raising safety concerns. His death was later ruled a suicide, sparking global attention and prompting scrutiny of the production processes and corporate culture at Boeing's 787 "Dreamliner" factory in North Charleston, South Carolina.
