The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs deploys the work of medicated seeding for autumn wheat planting.
On September 26, the Planting Management Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, together with the National Agricultural Technology Extension Service Center, held a meeting on wheat autumn sowing and seed dressing in Yinchuan City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The meeting arranged and deployed the use of seed dressing for wheat autumn sowing and the prevention and control of pests and diseases in autumn and winter, and provided training on seed dressing technology. It was emphasized to implement wheat autumn sowing seed dressing measures according to local conditions, move the prevention and control measures forward, achieve "winter disease prevention in autumn," ensure strong seedlings for wheat, and actively take control of pests and diseases next spring.
The meeting pointed out that due to factors such as climate change and adjustments in farming systems, the spread of soil-borne diseases such as wheat basal rot and Fusarium head blight has accelerated, and the early development of air-borne diseases such as stripe rust and powdery mildew is evident. Underground pests such as wireworms and mole crickets continue to expand their range, posing a serious threat to wheat production safety. In order to strengthen prevention and response, the seed dressing rate for wheat autumn sowing in 2025 aims to remain around 95%. In areas where wheat stripe rust over-summers, over-winters, and underground pests such as basal rot and Fusarium head blight are widespread, the seed dressing rate should strive to reach 100%, firmly preventing "white seed planting."
The meeting emphasized that local authorities should seize the farming season, take swift action, and effectively carry out seed dressing and pest and disease prevention and control in autumn and winter. Responsibility should be strengthened by incorporating the wheat autumn sowing seed dressing work into the key agricultural production tasks for the "three autumn seasons" and transforming technical solutions into specific techniques that farmers can easily implement. Material support should be strengthened by timely assessing weather changes and development situations, organizing and mobilizing resources, and conducting unified seed dressing work. Guidance and promotion should be strengthened by providing technical guidance and disease and pest monitoring during critical periods, scientifically guiding prevention actions, and widely promoting key measures through online and offline channels such as popular science videos and explanatory leaflets to improve the level of wheat pest and disease prevention and control.
