At the thematic press conference on "high-quality completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan" held by the State Council Information Office today, the relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security introduced that the number of social security card holders in China has reached 1.39 billion, of which 1.1 billion people have obtained electronic social security cards. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China has continuously improved the national social security public service platform and mobile service channels such as 12333, opened 161 national services, and provided over 60 billion non-face-to-face services for the public. Nationwide, the online processing volume of social security business has exceeded 70%, and in some regions it is close to 90%. Local governments have strengthened cooperation with banks, post offices, and other institutions to create social security service circles within a 15-minute walk in urban areas and a 5-kilometer radius in rural areas. For elderly or mobility-impaired people, assistance, proxy services, or appointment-based home services are provided. Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Security Li Zhong introduced that currently, the social security card not only covers 95 applications in the field of human resources and social security, but also carries more and more livelihood services in other areas. For example, using the social security card to receive pension payments, seeking medical treatment and purchasing medicines locally and across provinces, using the social security card to take public transportation, borrow books, and visit museums, etc.
