Russian and Ethiopia sign a cooperation agreement on nuclear power plants.
The Russian state nuclear energy company announced on the 25th that it has signed a nuclear energy cooperation agreement with Ethiopia, planning to conduct feasibility studies for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Ethiopia. During a nuclear energy forum, the CEO of the Russian state nuclear energy company, Alexey Likhachev, and the CEO of the Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation, Ashebir Balcha, jointly signed an action plan for nuclear power development. According to the plan, the two sides will establish a specialized working group to conduct feasibility studies for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Ethiopia and promote the signing of a government cooperation agreement. The plan also includes the provision of technical training to Ethiopian personnel by the Russian side. On the same day, the Minister of Mining of Niger, Abalhi Osman, announced that Niger plans to collaborate with the Russian state nuclear energy company to build two nuclear reactors with a capacity of 2000 megawatts each.
