Starting today, Guangzhou enforces strict regulations prohibiting the stacking of garbage and debris on rooftops and hallways.
The decision of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Guangzhou Municipality on strengthening the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases comes into effect today. The decision focuses on the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases, which is closely related to public health, aiming to build a scientific, efficient, and coordinated system for the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases through this decision. The head of the Law Commission stated that some residents like to use the rooftops, terraces, corridors, and other public areas of residential areas to pile up garbage and miscellaneous items, which not only affects neighborhood relations but also harms public health. The decision stipulates that if residents do not eliminate the breeding conditions of vector-borne diseases and pile up garbage and miscellaneous items on the rooftops, terraces, corridors, and other public areas of residential areas, the health authorities of the city or district, or the designated department of the city or district government shall give a warning and order them to correct within a specified period according to Article 69 of the Guangdong Patriotic Hygiene Work Regulations. If the violation is not corrected within the deadline, a fine of not less than fifty yuan but not more than one hundred yuan shall be imposed.
