According to a letter from Democratic Senator Dick Durbin and Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, they are requesting ten major companies to explain why they have recently laid off American employees despite submitting thousands of H-1B visa applications for foreign employees. The companies that received the senators' letter are: Amazon, Apple, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Deloitte, Google, JPMorgan Chase, Meta, Microsoft, Tata Consultancy Services, and Walmart. In their letter to Google CEO Sundar Pichai, they wrote, "In recent years, tens of thousands of American tech workers have been laid off, why is Google still hiring foreign tech workers?" The letter requests these companies to respond by no later than October 10th.
