On September 25, the European Commission announced that it has initiated a formal investigation to assess whether SAP may be distorting competition in the European Economic Area (EEA) related to enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. The ERP software, authorized by SAP for managing business operations, belongs to the category of local deployment. At the same time as initiating the investigation process, the European Commission has outlined the main facts of the case and highlighted its competition concerns in a preliminary assessment report. In response to the European Commission's concerns, SAP is now able to submit commitment proposals.
