The European Commission launches antitrust investigation into SAP

The European Commission announced on September 25th that it has initiated a formal investigation to assess whether SAP may have distorted market competition related to enterprise resource planning software in the European Economic Area. This ERP software, licensed by SAP to manage business operations, is of the on-premise deployment type. Along with launching the investigation process, the European Commission has issued a preliminary assessment report outlining the main facts of the case and indicating its concerns about competition. In response to the European Commission's concerns, SAP is now able to submit commitments.
