Former Secretary of the Xiuwen County Committee in Guizhou Province, Guan Qingliang, was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months in the first instance.

On September 25, the Intermediate People's Court of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province publicly pronounced the first instance verdict on the case of bribery involving Guan Qingliang, former secretary of the Communist Party Committee of Xiuwen County, Guizhou Province. The defendant Guan Qingliang was found guilty of bribery and sentenced to eleven years and three months in prison, and fined 1.3 million RMB. The illegally obtained property and its interests by Guan Qingliang through bribery shall be confiscated and turned over to the state treasury. After trial, it was found that from 2014 to 2024, the defendant Guan Qingliang took advantage of his positions as standing committee member and organization department director of Dafang County Party Committee, executive deputy county head of Qiuxi County, and county head and Party secretary of Xiuwen County to seek benefits for relevant units and individuals in project contracting, disbursement of engineering funds, work transfers, etc., by abusing his power and status, and illegally accepting a total of more than 29.8 million RMB in cash and interests of over 2.38 million RMB, either individually or jointly with others, some of which were not actually obtained.
