On September 25th, the Beijing Dongcheng Court held a press conference on typical cases of disputes involving marriage agency service contracts, analyzing the problems and legal risks. According to Han Yibing, the head of the filing department of Dongcheng Court, the court analyzed 110 cases of disputes involving marriage agency service contracts handled in the past three years and found that the prices of some marriage agency services contracts are relatively high, with many being prepaid consumption. Marriage agencies often require customers to pay in full in one lump sum, and some even induce consumers to take out loans for blind dates when they cannot afford it, increasing the economic and psychological burden on consumers. Furthermore, during the handling of cases, the court also found that some marriage agencies engage in exaggerated advertising, false promises, and consumer inducement. Some sales staff of certain marriage agencies use verbal promises such as "accurate matching," "guaranteed success," "guaranteed marriage," and "marriage cash back" to convince consumers to sign service contracts. When disputes arise, they refuse to fulfill their obligations by claiming that there were no written agreements. Some marriage agencies also have problems with introducing unsuitable matches, not matching the expectations of the contract, and not meeting the requirements of the contract. In addition, some marriage agencies operate in an irregular manner, with unclear responsibility entities.
