Yan Ligang, former member of the 16th Beijing Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, was sentenced to fourteen years and six months in prison in the first instance trial.

On September 25, the Beijing Third Intermediate People's Court publicly sentenced Yan Ligang, former member of the 16th Beijing Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, former director of the Finance and Economy Committee of the 16th Beijing Municipal People's Congress, and former director of the Finance and Economy Office of the Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, for the crime of bribery. Yan Ligang was sentenced to fourteen years and six months in prison and fined 1.5 million yuan. The proceeds from Yan Ligang's bribery and any interest generated will be confiscated and turned over to the national treasury, with any shortfall to be further recovered.
