On September 24th, Apple issued a statement stating that the implementation of the EU's Digital Markets Act has been over a year, during which time the DMA "has clearly worsened the experience of Apple users in the EU." Apple urged EU regulators to carefully review the impact of the law on EU citizens who use Apple products daily. Apple mentioned that the DMA requires them to ensure that certain functions can run on non-Apple products and apps before they can be shared with users, which requires a lot of engineering work. As a result, the company has had to delay the release of multiple features in the EU, including real-time translation for AirPods, iPhone mirroring, and features such as "visited locations" and "preferred routes" on maps.
