On September 24th local time, a relative of one of the victims of the Washington DC plane crash filed a lawsuit against American Airlines, its subsidiary, and the US government. The lawsuit claims that American Airlines, the US Army, and the Federal Aviation Administration failed to prevent this "completely avoidable tragedy". The Army crew members failed to control the "Black Hawk" helicopter at or below the prescribed altitude, while the FAA failed to separate aircraft in the airspace and issue a safety alert when the aircraft approached an unsafe distance.
