On September 24th local time, Panamanian President Mulino reaffirmed his commitment to the Treaty on the Permanent Neutrality and Operation of the Panama Canal during his speech at the 80th United Nations General Assembly general debate. Mulino stated that neutrality is the best way to protect the safety of the Panama Canal, which is a global public asset. He said that the Panama Canal, neutral, open to the world, and promoting more integrated international trade, will always belong to Panama.
