U.S. stock market anomaly | Copper mining sector collectively rising, Southern Copper (SCCO.US) up more than 8%

According to the Wise Finance and Economics APP, on Wednesday, the US stock copper mining sector collectively rose, with Ero Copper (ERO.US) and Southern Copper (SCCO.US) both rising by over 8%, Taseko Mines (TGB.US) rising by nearly 8%, and Hudbay Minerals (HBM.US) rising by over 6%. In terms of news, the international copper main contract rose by over 2% intraday, now at 72480.00 yuan/ton. UBS released a research report stating that due to limited supply growth of copper, as well as pressure on refined output and the recovery of traditional demand drivers, the fundamentals of 2026 and 2027 will continue to support prices. The bank has raised its copper price forecast for the next two years by 3% each, from $4.24 and $4.68 per pound, to $4.37 and $4.8 per pound, respectively.
