Experts warn: New H-1B regulations will have a "devastating impact" on American startups.

The Trump administration announced last Friday that it will impose a new $100,000 rule fee for H-1B work visas, immediately causing widespread panic. Experts pointed out that the new rule may make it difficult for startups to attract top international talent and even lead to talent flowing to other countries. "In short, this will have a devastating impact on the competitiveness and innovation capabilities of American businesses," warned Exequiel Hernandez, associate professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Data from an immigration law group shows that the previous cost of a single H-1B visa application was about $2,000 to $5,000. The $100,000 rule fee is a lethal blow to cash-strapped startups. Even tech giants will need to reevaluate their talent strategies, but Hernandez pointed out that "large companies like Microsoft can bypass the impact by recruiting overseas or acquiring talent." The CEO of the well-known startup incubator Y Combinator, Garry Tan, criticized the new rule as "killing startups" and a "gift" to overseas tech centers.
