The number of mining accidents and the number of casualties have significantly decreased during the period of the 14th five-year plan.
The person in charge of the Emergency Management Department introduced today at the high-quality completion of the "Fourteenth Five-Year Plan" series of themed press conferences that the average number of mining accidents and fatalities per year from 2021 to 2024 decreased by 29.7% and 29.1% respectively compared to the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan". They have established a comprehensive risk monitoring and early warning system, which has accessed sensing data from all normally operating coal mines, all in-use tailings ponds, and the vast majority of metal and non-metal open-pit mines with steep slopes. Currently, the system has conducted remote supervision and law enforcement for over 10,000 mining sites, identifying more than 42,000 problems and hazards, including over 480 major accident risks, effectively resolving a large number of major safety risks. Compared to 2020, the number of intelligent mining faces in coal mines nationwide has increased from 494 to the current 1,930.
