The National Gold and Jewelry Industry Metrology Testing Center has been approved for construction.
The State Administration for Market Regulation has approved the establishment of the National Gold and Jewelry Industry Metrology Testing Center, fully utilizing metrology to support and guarantee the high-quality development of the gold and jewelry industry. In the gold and jewelry industry, metrology technology is the "quality benchmark" that runs through the entire industry chain. From raw material testing to finished product delivery, the precision of each link depends on metrology technology, directly affecting product quality, compliance, and market trust. Currently, the gold and jewelry industry still faces prominent metrology problems such as lack of standard substances, large measurement errors, lack of specialized metrology testing methods and techniques, and inability to measure key parameters accurately. The establishment of the National Gold and Jewelry Industry Metrology Testing Center will carry out research on full traceability chain metrology testing technology and the development of standard substances, build key parameter measurement technology capabilities for gemstones such as diamonds, colored gemstones, jade, organic gemstones, as well as precious metals materials such as gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. It will also develop industry-specific metrology testing equipment like laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy and gemstone color measuring devices, provide technical support for scalable, low-cost online or on-site traceability solutions, and promote the healthy and standardized development of the gold and jewelry industry.
