In a report released by JPMorgan Chase on Tuesday, it is predicted that the new $10,000 visa fee proposed by the Trump administration may lead to a monthly decrease of nearly 5,500 H-1B work visa applications received by the United States. JPMorgan Chase arrived at this number by calculating the total number of H-1B applications received by the United States for fiscal year 2024 (141,000) and predicting how many of them were processed at consulates outside the U.S. The report stated that approximately 65,000 consulate applications are most likely to be affected by the new fee. JPMorgan Chase warned that this change could reduce the attractiveness of foreign students coming to study in the U.S. and decrease their employment opportunities in the U.S. after graduation.
