JPMorgan Chase predicted in a report released on Tuesday that the new $10,000 visa fee introduced by the Trump administration could result in a monthly decrease of nearly 5,500 H-1B work visa applications received by the United States. JPMorgan Chase arrived at this figure by calculating the total number of H-1B applications received by the United States for the fiscal year 2024 and predicting how many of them were processed at consulates outside the U.S. The report stated that approximately 65,000 consular applications were most likely to be affected by the new fee. JPMorgan Chase warned that this change could reduce the attractiveness of foreign students coming to the U.S. to study and decrease their employment opportunities in the U.S. after graduation.
