Zhao Leji said that President Xi Jinping and President Trump have had three phone calls this year, steering China-US relations in the right direction. Maintaining stable, healthy and sustainable China-US relations is the common expectation of the people of both countries and even the world. Mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation are the fundamental principles for developing China-US relations. It is hoped that both sides will adhere to rational, objective, and fair principles, strengthen communication, seek common ground, shelve differences, increase trust and resolve doubts, injecting more stability into bilateral cooperation and the world economy. The Taiwan issue is the most important and sensitive issue in China-US relations, and we hope that the US side will truly adhere to the One China principle and handle the Taiwan issue cautiously.
