Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission: Accelerate the research and development of technologies such as Synthetic fuels and carbon capture through the "racehorse system."

The 2025 Pujiang Innovation Forum on Future Energy Forum with the theme of "Renewable Energy Leading the Energy Revolution" will be held in Shanghai from September 21st to September 22nd. Zheng Guanghong, Deputy Inspector of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, stated that Shanghai is focusing on sustainable aviation fuels, green methanol, and green ammonia, systematically promoting disruptive technological innovation and future industrial system construction. By 2025, the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission will promote collaborative research between industry, academia, and research institutions through strategic frontier projects, including the green methanol industrial pilot project led by the team of Academician Chen De from East China University of Science and Technology, as well as the SAF industrial chain construction led by the airport group; "Harnessing the power of competition" to accelerate the research and development of complementary technologies such as electric fuel synthesis and carbon capture; establish city-level key laboratories and solicit future industry scenarios to promote the demonstration application of green fuel technologies in shipping, aviation, industry, and other fields, actively building an internationally leading green fuel technology innovation hub and perfecting the industrial chain to support the green and low-carbon transformation of Shanghai International Shipping Center.
