VodafoneThree has selected Ericsson and Nokia, signing a contract worth 2 billion pounds for these two companies to provide network technology across the UK. VodafoneThree was formed earlier this year through a merger of Vodafone's UK operations with the competitor Three UK. The company has committed to investing 11 billion pounds to build an advanced 5G network over the next 10 years. The collaboration agreement announced on Monday is part of this commitment, including an 8-year contract to provide network technology to over 17,000 sites. Ericsson will modernize the existing 4G and 5G infrastructure in the UK and deploy its network on over 10,000 sites. VodafoneThree aims to achieve nationwide coverage of 5G networks in the UK by 2034. Nokia will provide network technology for around 7,000 sites in the UK. In a statement, VodafoneThree stated that these two Nordic companies will take on most of the network construction work, with the final number of sites to be further increased.
