The Market Supervision Administration of Jiading District, Shanghai Municipality reported on September 22nd: Upon investigation, a consumer dined at 19:55 on September 20th, ordering 8 dishes including fried chicken and freshly sliced raw salmon. The raw materials for the fried chicken and salmon were delivered to the restaurant on the morning of September 20th and stored in refrigeration upon arrival. The sources of the food ingredients were legal, and the fried chicken was processed in the hot food processing area of the kitchen, while the salmon was processed in a separate raw food processing area. The food processing procedures were generally in compliance with regulations. The dishes were served with lemon wedges. The consumer squeezed lemon juice onto the fried chicken and the remaining piece of salmon, only to find a live worm on the surface of each. No worms were found on the previously consumed piece of fried chicken or the 4 pieces of salmon. After analyzing the procurement and processing process of the fried chicken and salmon, it is concluded that the live worms were likely introduced by the lemon wedges. Currently, the Administration has filed a case against the involved company and will handle it in accordance with the law, urging the company to fulfill its responsibilities for food safety.
