The 2025 World Rowing Championships have opened in Qingpu, Shanghai.

According to the announcement from Shanghai, the opening ceremony of the 2025 World Rowing Championships was held at the Shui Xiang Ke Ting Fang Ting Shui Yuan in Qingpu, Shanghai on September 21. Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng and Jean-Christophe Rolland, President of the International Rowing Federation, attended and jointly launched the championship. The hosting of this World Rowing Championships is of great significance, as it is not only the first top-level event held by the International Rowing Federation in China, but also the first integrated event for athletes with and without disabilities held in Shanghai.
