The Hong Kong AI Performance Improvement Group established a work plan and schedule in November this year.
The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has issued a new policy address on September 17. At a press conference this afternoon, the Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology of the Hong Kong SAR Government, Dr. David Chung, announced the work arrangements of the "AI Efficiency Enhancement Team," stating that the team will actively review the operational processes and technology applications of departments, and provide targeted AI applications, digital transformation, and process restructuring solutions to enhance service efficiency and quality, promote innovative service applications, and make efficient use of resources.
Dr. Chung stated that the "AI Efficiency Enhancement Team" will develop a work plan and timetable by November of this year, and submit a report to the Chief Executive, with the goal of launching relevant projects next year, including launching AI tools covering 100 government processes by 2026, as well as flagship AI projects in the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 fiscal years. The team will be led by Dr. Chung himself as the team leader, with the Secretary for Innovation and Technology and a representative from the industry serving as deputy team leaders to introduce new market thinking and practical experience, as well as having a Digital Policy Commissioner act as the secretary.
