The EU plans to increase pressure on Russia to obtain oil dollars in its next round of sanctions, targeting multiple key aspects of the global oil industry. As of now, international oil prices have not shown significant fluctuations. Previous sanctions targeting Russia's oil trade have had limited impact on Russia's oil supply. The EU has not yet released the draft documents related to sanctions, and it remains to be seen which assets or entities from third countries will be included in the sanctions list once all details are disclosed. Von der Leyen also stated that Russian energy giants such as Rosneft and Gazprom will face a "comprehensive trading ban," with other companies also facing asset freezes. Furthermore, the EU will add sanctions on 118 ships belonging to the "shadow tanker fleet," bringing the total number of shadow tankers sanctioned by the EU to over 560.
