A team of experts from Fudan University conducted a nested case-control study and systematically mapped the trajectory of metabolic changes in the 15 years before the onset of a disease. They found that more than 50% of metabolic indicators showed differences as early as 10 years before the disease was diagnosed, providing the possibility for early disease warning. On September 19, 2025, Professor Yujintai from Fudan University's affiliated Huashan Hospital, along with Professor Cheng Wei from Fudan University's Institute of Brain-Like Intelligence Science and Technology, Professor Feng Jianfeng, and young researcher You Jia, published their latest research results on predicting hundreds of diseases using the metabolic map of human health and disease. Earlier in 2025, they had published a plasma proteomics map on the cover of the journal Cell.
