Recently, due to the strange odor in the shrimp and egg dish served in student lunches, the food supplier Shanghai Lvjie Industrial Development Co., Ltd. was once again caught in a public opinion whirlpool. On September 18, a netizen revealed that frozen beef and mutton products with a shelf life of up to 540 days were found in the food ingredients purchased by Shanghai Minhang District Shiyan Primary School. Investigation by journalists found that this batch of meat products was distributed by Shanghai Lvjie company. In addition, the Shanghai Food Safety Information Traceability Platform showed that Shanghai Lvjie company had purchased multiple batches of frozen pork belly with a shelf life of 720 days, and the related traceability information was suspected to have been urgently taken down by the company. Regarding the use of frozen meat products with long shelf lives in school meals, on September 19, when journalists contacted Shiyan Primary School in Minhang District for information, a staff member from one campus refused to be interviewed, citing that the office had "no external phone line and could not be reached." Another staff member from a different campus simply hung up the phone upon hearing the journalist's questions about food-related issues.
