France expels two Malian diplomats

French media reported on the 19th that France has suspended its counterterrorism cooperation with Mali and expelled two Malian diplomats. According to an official in the French diplomatic community quoted by AFP, in response to Mali's arrest of a French citizen in August, France has requested the two Malian diplomats to leave France by the 20th. The official said that Mali had previously declared five staff members of the French embassy in Mali as "persona non grata," and they had left Mali on the 14th. The official also said that if the detained French citizen is not released quickly, France will soon take "other measures."
