Business Community: The recent market for methylene chloride has stabilized after hitting bottom
The market supply of dichloromethane in Shandong is loose while demand is weak, leading to cautious trading and a wait-and-see attitude. Enterprises continue to offer discounts to reduce inventory, and the market continues to trend downward. According to data from the Commodity Market Analysis System of SCI, as of September 17, the average price of dichloromethane in Shandong was 1845 yuan/ton, with a decrease of 4.9% compared to the previous period and a significant drop of 33.63% year-on-year, reaching a new low in nine years. Currently, the operating rate of the supply side has been slightly reduced, enterprises are stabilizing prices by reducing burdens, export volumes continue to increase, and market supply pressure has eased, leading to price stabilization. With enterprises conducting maintenance to reduce burdens and exports remaining at high levels, the marginal improvement in the market supply-demand structure may provide some room for a slight price increase. However, due to limited domestic demand recovery and weak support from cost factors, the upward momentum in the market is insufficient, and it is expected to remain mainly volatile and slightly strong in the future.
