The heat of the PEEK material industry continues, but the challenge of commercialization costs needs to be solved.
In recent years, in the context of "replacing steel with plastic" and "lightweighting", polyetheretherketone materials, one of the globally recognized best thermoplastic engineering plastics in terms of comprehensive performance, have been widely used in the fields of transportation, aerospace, electronics, energy & industry, and medical health. In the wave of robotics, PEEK materials have also emerged in this field, and related companies in the industrial chain have been very active in the capital market. Looking ahead to industry trends, Wang Peng, a researcher at the Beijing Academy of Social Sciences, recently analyzed to Securities Times that PEEK materials have become key materials in the high-end manufacturing field due to their wear resistance, high temperature resistance, high strength, lightweight, and biocompatibility. The industry is transitioning from "import dependence" to "domestic substitution + technological breakthroughs", and the proportion of high-end products is expected to gradually increase. However, he noted that the cost of PEEK materials is much higher than that of other special materials, which also limits its application in large volume components in some areas in the short term.
