Silicon Industry Branch: With the strict implementation of the new energy consumption standards, the effective production capacity of polycrystalline silicon in China will decrease by 31.4% compared to the installed capacity.

As of this week, the number of domestic polysilicon enterprises in production has been maintained at 10, with one enterprise undergoing maintenance expected to be completed by the end of September and resume normal production in early October. On September 16, the National Standardization Management Committee issued three mandatory national standards including "Energy Consumption Limits for Unit Products of Polysilicon and Germanium". After the implementation of this standard, enterprises that do not meet the benchmark requirements for energy consumption of polysilicon unit products will be required to rectify within a specified period. Enterprises that fail to rectify within the deadline or fail to reach the admission value after rectification will be shut down. According to preliminary statistics, after the orderly adjustment of existing production capacity structure, the effective polysilicon production capacity in China will be reduced to about 2.4 million tons per year, a decrease of 16.4% compared to the end of 2024, and a 31.4% decrease compared to the existing installed capacity. Therefore, with the strict implementation of the new energy consumption standards, the supply and demand situation of polysilicon will be substantially improved.
