National Development and Reform Commission: Strengthen support for projects in the fields of elderly care, childcare, culture, tourism, and sports.
At the press conference held by the State Council Information Office this afternoon, relevant officials stated that they will continue to support the construction of projects in the fields of elderly care and childcare, culture, tourism, and sports, to meet the needs of the people for a high-quality life. An official from the National Development and Reform Commission stated that in accelerating the construction of a high-quality "one elderly, one child" service system, the proportion of nursing-type beds in the country has increased to 64.6%; the number of childcare places for children under 3 has exceeded 5.7 million, with the construction of comprehensive childcare service centers in more than 300 prefecture-level cities and populous counties, allowing more people to afford and trust childcare services. In terms of supporting the upgrading of cultural, tourism, and sports facilities and equipment, by the end of 2024, there will be a total of 4.84 million sports venues in the country, covering an area of 4.23 billion square meters. In addition, the National Development and Reform Commission is also promoting the issuance of the "Implementation Plan for the Construction of Embedded Service Facilities in Urban Communities," promoting 56 pilot cities to improve the community service system, providing residents with convenient elderly care, childcare, community dining, household services, and other "one-stop" services. Wu Yuetao, Director of the Employment, Income Distribution, and Consumption Division of the National Development and Reform Commission, introduced that in the next step, the Commission will adhere to investing in people, serving the livelihoods, and continue to support the construction of projects in the fields of elderly care and childcare, culture, tourism, and sports. They will vigorously develop community embedded services, play a key role in optimizing the supply structure through investment, and meet the people's needs for a high-quality life.
