Li Jiachao: The cross-border railway project will connect the subway networks of Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

On September 17, Carrie Lam, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, delivered the 2025 Policy Address at the Legislative Council. Lam stated that the cross-border railway project in Hong Kong will connect the subway networks of Hong Kong and Shenzhen, greatly improving the infrastructure connectivity in the Greater Bay Area and boosting confidence for industries to establish themselves there. Hong Kong is actively promoting the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Western Railway and has invited contractors and operators to submit letters of intent for the Hong Kong section of the project.
