Li Ka-chao: Construction work at the Hong Kong Gudong Station and Hung Shui Kiu Station is progressing at full speed.
The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, delivered a new policy address at the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region today. Lam stated that in order to support the development of the Northern Metropolis, the construction of the Kam Sheung Road Station and Hung Hom Station is in full swing, and they are expected to be completed in 2027 and 2030 respectively. The SAR government has signed the first part of the project agreement with the MTR Corporation to combine the main and branch lines of the Northern Link with new thinking, aiming to open them simultaneously by 2034 or earlier. Lam stated that the cross-border railway project will connect the subway networks of Hong Kong and Shenzhen, significantly enhance the connectivity of infrastructure in the Greater Bay Area, and strengthen confidence in industrial settlement. The SAR government is making all-out efforts to promote the West Rail Line linking Hong Kong and Shenzhen, and has invited contractors and operators to submit expressions of interest for the Hong Kong section of the project.
