Regionalization, digitalization, and greening: Global supply chains are accelerating their shift towards emerging markets such as China.
The China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing released the "Global Supply Chain Development Trend Blue Book" at the 2025 Procurement and Supply Management Conference today. According to the Blue Book, the global supply chain is accelerating its shift towards emerging markets such as China, and showing characteristics of regionalization, digitization, and greenization. China is actively responding to changes through strategies such as "dual circulation" and "new quality productivity," providing a "Chinese solution" for optimizing the global supply chain. According to the Blue Book, uncertainties such as geopolitical tensions, rising trade protectionism, and high debt issues will continue to affect the global economy, which is still in a slow recovery in 2025. The current global supply chain is shifting from a globalization-focused layout to a regionalized and finely coordinated one. Western countries are finding it difficult to independently lead the formulation of global rules and economic direction, while emerging markets represented by China are playing an increasingly prominent role. Economic growth momentum is also shifting from traditional Western centers to the Asia-Pacific region, resulting in a new dynamic structure and plate adjustment in the global market. As a result, the global supply chain is increasingly shifting towards emerging market economies such as China.
