Yunnan Province has introduced measures to strengthen the conservation and intensive use of land.

Recently, the General Office of the Yunnan Provincial Government issued "Several Measures to Strengthen Land Conservation and Intensive Land Use to Promote High-Quality Development", introducing 10 measures focusing on land use efficiency, economic and social development. The Measures emphasizes the role of land use planning, incorporating conservation and intensive concepts throughout the entire process to control the total amount and intensity of newly developed construction land. In terms of farmland protection, it strictly implements land use planning and use control requirements, adhering to the three control lines of farmland, permanent basic farmland, ecological protection red line, and urban development boundary. It advocates for conserving and intensively using existing land resources, prohibiting the disorderly expansion of newly developed construction land to prevent extensive land use, and enforcing strict law enforcement. The reform of balancing farmland occupation and compensation is being implemented effectively, with differentiated management methods and a "1+N" institutional system centered on the balance of occupation and compensation.
