Citigroup has appointed senior banker Li Shan as the chairman for Japan, North Asia, and Australia regions, based in Hong Kong. Li Shan has previously held important leadership and advisory positions at global and regional financial institutions including Credit Suisse, UBS, and Bank of China International. An internal memo from Citigroup shows that Li Shan will play a key role in providing advice and insights to Chinese clients and multinational companies planning to expand in China. A Citigroup spokesperson confirmed the contents of the memo.
