This morning, the State Council Information Office held a series of themed press conferences on "high-quality completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan". Units such as the Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission and the Legislative Work Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress introduced the breakthrough progress and historical achievements made in the construction of the rule of law in China during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, as well as the achievements made in legislation in our country. Shen Chunyao, director of the Legislative Work Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, introduced that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the National People's Congress and its Standing Committee deepened the promotion of scientific, democratic, and lawful legislation to guarantee high-quality development through high-quality legislation, achieving a series of new important results. From 2021 to present, 36 new laws have been enacted, 63 laws have been amended, 35 decisions related to legal issues and major issues have been made, and one legal interpretation has been issued; there are currently 306 effective laws, 600 administrative regulations and supervision regulations, and over 14,000 local regulations; the socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics centred on the Constitution is continuously improving and developing. The 17th meeting of the 14th National People's Congress Standing Committee, which is planned to close this afternoon, will produce a number of the latest legislative and amendment achievements.
