The US Department of Justice has sued Uber, accusing the company of discriminating against people with disabilities in violation of federal law. Uber has faced multiple lawsuits from passengers accusing the company of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act. In 2021, Uber reached a settlement with the US Department of Justice agreeing to pay over $2 million to tens of thousands of passengers and adjust its policies after being accused of charging discriminatory fees for disabilities.
