On May 21, Forex analysts Quek Ser Leang and Peter Chia of Great Eastern Bank pointed out that the New Zealand dollar against the US dollar may trade sideways in the range of 0.5905 to 0.5945. In the long term, the outlook is still unclear, but the New Zealand dollar may trade in a narrower range of 0.5835 to 0.5985. Their 24-hour view: "Yesterday we expected the New Zealand dollar to trade in the range of 0.5900 to 0.5950, actual trading range was 0.5896 to 0.5932, closing almost flat. Despite the overall tone being relatively strong, we expect the New Zealand dollar to continue trading sideways, with the range possibly between 0.5905 and 0.5945." Their 1-3 week view: "Since mid-last week, we have been expecting the New Zealand dollar to trade within a range. In the latest analysis on May 19, we stated 'the outlook is still unclear, but we expect the trading range to be narrower, from 0.5835 to 0.5985.' We continue to maintain this view."
