British media: The United States has closed the Palestinian Affairs office.
The British newspaper "The Guardian" recently reported that an internal document from the US government stated that the Palestinian Affairs Office in Jerusalem had officially closed on May 16. US Secretary of State Rubio had previously announced that the office would be merged into the US Embassy in Jerusalem. State Department spokesperson Bruce stated that this decision aims to restore the diplomatic framework of the Trump administration's first term, which is to establish a unified diplomatic mission in Jerusalem to report to the US Ambassador to Israel. The Palestinian Affairs Office was established in 2022 and served as the main communication mechanism between the US and Palestinians. Its closure means that Palestinian affairs will no longer be handled by a separate diplomatic agency of the US.
